The image of the house is inspired by memories of the dark tarnish of fishing boats. Its laconic form is accentuated by wooden plank cladding, which extends seamlessly across both the roof and exterior walls. The roof overhangs on the seaward side are characteristic of the windswept landscape of Pāvilosta. On the south side, the overhang above the terrace is fitted with sliding louvre panels, which can be adjusted as needed to provide privacy from neighboring buildings and shade from the summer sun.
A technical solution for the roof windows on the courtyard side allows them to be integrated flush with the roof covering. As a result, the windows blend subtly with the boarded cladding, avoiding unnecessary visual disruption.
