The client wanted to renovate his father’s 1970s summer house into a modern, well-insulated building. The goal was to create a year-round living space for the retired father and a summer residence for the younger part of the family. While the project involved reconstruction, the existing volume, including rubble retaining walls and the underground level, was preserved to maintain an emotional connection between the old and new house. The architecture of the new building reflects a modern take on regional functionalism, with a focus on energy efficiency and attention to detail. The design solution accommodates year-round use for smaller parts of the building, reserving full occupancy for the summer season. Engineering solutions and room arrangements align with the client’s brief.
